Where are you Christmas….

Where are you Christmas…
Why can’t I find you?
Why have you gone away?
My world is changing…
I’m rearranging
Does that means Christmas changes too?

Where are you Christmas…
Do you remember?
The girl you used to know…
You and I were so carefree…
Now nothing easy…
Did Christmas change?
Or just me..

~Cindy Loo Who (The Grinch)

Have you ever had one of those years where Christmas just doesn’t seem…well… imminent?  Perhaps it’s because Braedon is in Mexico and I’m winging it solo but I just can’t seem to find that Christmas vibe….AT ALL!

So…here are my top 3 recommendations for finding that Christmas feeling:

3.  BAKE!  Yes, even if you’ve never stepped foot into the culinary realm of baking, Google some recipes of your favourite treat and make it happen!  I decided that I would go totally festive and make homemade chocolate gingerbread people and peanut butter cookies; and with the help of Michael’s, found some stellar packaging.

HINT:  Click the image above for quite possible THE BEST chewy peanut butter cookie recipe out there!

2.  DECORATE!  Now when you’re feeling a little “BAHUMBUG“, this is likely the last thing you want to do…but trust me, it helps…AND if you happen to incorporate a little “retail therapy” into your creative endeavour, so be it.  The closer to Christmas it is…the cheaper the decorations are!  😉  Canadian Tire was my guilty pleasure this season.

1.  ADVENTURE!  If that Christmas spirit is still evading you, hop in your ride and “get outta dodge“.  Seriously, head in the most festive direction you can think of…no matter where you live, there is something so fabulously festive just waiting for you.  Chances are, if you visit expedia.ca, you will likely find some last minute booking deals at some amazing hotels in your area that are usually all decked out for the season.

I was fortunate enough to score a room at Canmore’s newest luxury hotel, The Malcolm, and it truly did not disappoint.

Bonus tip…when all else fails, buy yourself a little sparkle! There’s nothing better than a little Christmas bling to brighten your mood.

Shop the look: Beaded Sweater & Cami (Zara), Lambskin Leather pants (Nordstrom), Madden Girl Diva Boots (Macy’s)

What do you do to turn up the holiday cheer?

Festively yours,

Brandelyn

PS…you can always dress down the sparkle with a pair of your best distressed denim and complete the day time casual look with Pom Pom chunky knit hat.
