You Cheated.  You Lied. But I Still Love You. Dieselgate Drama

Dearest VW,

I’m not sure how to tell you this, and to be quite honest, after all that has happened, I wasn’t sure that I would be able to love again.

Now that you’ve finally opened up and accepted responsibility for your indiscretions, I am looking forward to putting this behind us so that we can move on.

I know that you mention that you have a ‘fix’ for your 2015 models but you’ll have to forgive me for being somewhat skeptical of that claim. Is it a fix that will give me the ‘Clean, like really clean, diesel’ that your advertising originally promised? Or will it give me a ‘clean, like really clean, diesel with compromised performance or fuel efficiency?’  Or maybe…never mind I digress.

I guess I’m just wondering if this fix was so easily attainable without consequence, why would you not just give it to me initially?
For the past few months, I have been thoroughly researching my options with respect to the forthcoming buy back settlement, And I must admit, even though you cheated and you lied, I still do love you.

However, I have decided that I have outgrown you and that it is time for me to move on. But don’t worry, the undeniable performance, clean lines and German engineering that your extended family provide will certainly keep me happy.
Although I will certainly miss the purr of your Diesel engine, I’m certain the A5’s 0 to 60 in 6.1 seconds will make up for it.

Farewell my love.
XO – Brandelyn
