What I Learned About Stem Cell Facelifts

Recently one of my girlfriends made the decision to have an anti-aging facial procedure done. Though she is only 45, she has contemplated this decision since recovering from a horrific accident where the excessive amounts of Cortisol (stress hormone) her body had produced during and after her injuries, had aged her substantially in a short amount of time.

After considering the various options available, she opted for a natural, non-surgical and relatively new form of anti-aging, known as PRP (platelet rich plasma) or a stem cell facelift. This procedure is sometimes referred to as a ‘Vampire Facial’ since the doctor uses your own blood, (once separated using a centrifuge) which is then injected back into the treatment area to naturally rejuvenate your skin.

Following the injections, she would go on to have CO2 Fractional Laser Resurfacing where a laser is used to “vaporize” the outer layer of the skin, stimulating collagen production and making the skin appear smooth and younger.
