Let’s talk rejection. Why? Because everybody fears it and I’m here to tell you how to embrace it. Rejection has made me who I am today. Do I like it? At the time, of course not, but in retrospect I’m sure damn grateful for each and every dreaded “no” that I have ever received.
I’ve been fired, dumped, and turned down in the past and albeit devastating at the time, these minor set backs have always paved the way to prosperity.
The reality is, as much as I demand my own way at times, you can’t always get what you want. You can however bust your ass, invest your passion and fulfill your life with all you ever need. Problem being, we are inherently guilty of making excuses for why we can’t get what we want. We are the prime inhibitor of our own fulfilment. Yes, that’s correct, we get in the way of our own success.
How many times do you find yourself thinking, “if only I had time for this” or “I wish I knew how to do that”…well guess what?! You do! Don’t ignore these fleeting thoughts as they are your inner passion trying to escape, find the time to entertain them.
So often we struggle with ‘getting in touch with our higher self’ that we blatantly ignore the painstakingly obvious hints that we are given by ourself to find ourself. Seems like a twisted game of hide and seek where the hunter and the hunted are one in the same, but my point is, nobody knows you better than you.
A few years ago I started my journey of self discovery and every single time I had a “I wonder how” moment, I wrote it down. Then, I found the time somewhere in between being a single mom and working full time, while finally completing my university degree to figure it out and make it happen. Which meant sometimes I needed to study first to acquire the knowledge and in other times it meant burning the midnight oil through the trials and errors of my latest endeavour.
Being raised by the most amazing, dedicated, compassionate mom a gal can ask for and growing up on a shoestring budget often meant we had to get creative if we wanted the latest trendy must have, or reasonable facsimile. We didn’t have the best of everything, but we never went without, learned the value of hard work and happiness was our modus operandi.
All of this to say, you really are the maker of your own destiny, you just need to follow the clues that you are given daily to figure it out, and then invest your time completing your never ending “I wonder how” list.
